A habit tracker can act as a small prompt and a record of what you have tried. You may want a simple check-in, a visual cue or a reminder attached to something you already do. Choose a tool that makes returning feel possible when a routine slips.
A streak shows recorded consistency, not your effort or worth. Tracking can become another demand, so keep only the habits and measures that are useful to you.

What to look for
- Flexible goals
- Look for schedules that fit the habit, such as a few times a week or a small minimum. Daily completion is not the right target for every routine.
- A forgiving restart
- Check what happens after a missed day. Pauses, skips or a view of longer-term progress may feel more supportive than a broken streak.
- Reminders with a useful cue
- Consider whether a reminder can arrive when the habit is possible, or connect to an activity you already do.
- A quick check-in
- Try recording a habit on a busy day. Extra notes and charts should be optional if all you need is a simple prompt and check mark.
